Lumberton Junior Service League Hosts Final Weekend of Free Prom Attire Program
Lumberton Junior Service League provides free prom attire for teens in the last weekend of Operation Prom 2026.

The Lumberton Junior Service League wraps up Operation Prom 2026 this Saturday. Middle and high school students throughout Robeson County can grab free prom clothes and accessories.
This marks year three for LJSL running the program. The nonprofit sets up a temporary boutique where students browse through gowns, suits, shoes, jewelry, and more at zero cost.
Godwin Heights Baptist Church at 704 Godwin Avenue in Lumberton opens its doors for the occasion. A photo backdrop awaits students who want pictures. The first weekend drew dozens of teens.
"Our goal is to remove financial barriers so students can enjoy this milestone with confidence," said Kirsten Locklear Oxendine, President of LJSL, according to the Robesonian. "Every student deserves to feel celebrated and supported on prom night."
The Kiwanis Club of Robeson-Lumberton awarded LJSL a grant this year, which stretched the program's ability to help more students across the county.
Sponsors and donations from businesses or individuals still matter. These gifts ensure students get what they need for prom and let the group widen what it does for the area.
