Hold on to your eyeliners and Le Monster lip crayons, because Lady Gaga -- the queen of pop, poker faces, and eccentric outfits -- is diving into the gothic world of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Season 2. We honestly couldn’t think of a better actress to kick off the second season of this creepy, mysterious, and spooky show.
Gaga’s role in the series is still under wraps. Variety reported that it would be a cameo, although sources say the show’s production team tried to get Gaga for a bigger role, but that didn’t pan out. Both Ortega and Gaga have praised one another and mentioned the amazing time they had working together. After all, who could better match Ortega’s Wednesday Addams than Lady Gaga, with her strange and macabre vibe?
Jenna Ortega on Lady Gaga: “She’s not only incredibly beautiful but incredibly talented”
During the premiere of her new film at SXSW, Ortega shared what she thinks of Gaga joining the second season of her Netflix show, saying, “It’s Gaga — just her presence alone, her face alone. She’s not only incredibly beautiful but incredibly talented, so I feel like she could stand in the corner and play a tree, and she’d add something to a scene,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
In an interview with IndieWire, Ortega also said how it was a “really special environment to be there” with Lady Gaga and Tim Burton, two people that she respects and has been “inspired by so much.” She also talked about Gaga’s kindness and generosity and how “she’s such a sweetheart.”
Before Wednesday Season 2 drops, Ortega is busy doing press tours for her comedy-supernatural horror film, Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd, Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, and Richard E. Grant. The story follows father and daughter Elliott (Rudd) and Ridley (Ortega), who accidentally crash into a unicorn while on their way to meet with Elliot’s boss, Dell Leopold (Grant). Upon discovering the healing abilities of the dead unicorn, Dell wants to exploit the creature for money, until another unicorn seeks revenge.
Lady Gaga on Appearing in the Show
Gaga, for her part, said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show. I want to keep it extra secret — but, I love Jenna, and I really had an amazing time!”
