Cher says men her age can’t handle her and she doesn't want to handle them. At 77 years old, the "Believe" singer told Jennifer Hudson on Wednesday's (May 1) episode of her talk show that she only dates younger guys for several reasons.

Why Does Cher Only Date Younger Men?

The legendary singer and actress, who has been dating 38-year-old music executive Alexander "AE" Edwards since November 2022, explained to the host that she dates younger men because she’s “kind of shy” around men and "really shy" when she's not working.

Cher bluntly states the men in her age group, "Well, now they're all dead." Recalling when she was younger, the "Goddess of Pop" says, "They were always terrified to approach me." Meanwhile, younger men were bold and raised by women like her, she added.

Elsewhere in her interview, Cher discussed turning down Elvis because she was nervous around him and his entourage.

As we previously reported, Cher said of the relationship: “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous. But, in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve. He’s very kind, he’s very smart, he’s very talented and he’s really funny. And I think he’s quite handsome.”

The couple seems to still be going strong, attending red carpet and fashion events together. At the start of 2024, Cher took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a photo of her and AE. She captioned the post: "Love is Love."

Edwards is 40 years her junior, but this isn't the first time Cher opted for a younger partner. In fact, she dated several men who were decades her junior, including Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise.

Besides being a talented singer, Cher has long been a fashion icon as well. As we previously reported, Cher said she maintains her youthful image despite nearing 80 by still wearing her jeans, her long hair, and "will still be doing the same stuff I’ve always done."

Other tips on how she maintains her image, the icon chalks it up to “pretty amazing” genes that run in her family. Cher’s mother, Georgia, lived to be 96. “I don’t know if not feeling old makes you younger,” she continued. “I keep up with the trends. I have lots of young friends. I have old friends too. Honestly, I’m not trying to feel young. I’m not trying to be young. I am who I am. I’m just getting along.”
