Selena Gomez is letting go of her former body image. On Monday (January 22), the Only Murders in the Building star shared a series of Instagram Stories, showing off her body in photos from over the years. Gomez, 31, first shared a photo from at least ten years ago, where she is wearing a zebra print bikini. She wrote underneath the photo: “Today I realized I will never look like this again…”

Following up with a more recent bathing suit photo, Gomez is seen boarding back on a yacht looking back at the camera. Wearing a white and black high-waisted bikini, Gomez added in the second photo's caption: “I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am.. Sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me.” The "Calm Down" singer's recent posts follow her previous body positivity messages, along with the reason why her weight fluctuates. Despite years of struggling with her mental health, the former Disney star also suffers from Lupus. The Selena + Chef star addressed her weight gain last year was due to her Lupus medication.

“I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of it, I tend to lose weight,” Gomez explained during a TikTok Live video at the time. “I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and nobody knows the real story. So, I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful. And, yeah, maybe we have days where we feel like s—. But, I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself.” The singer noted that her “medications are important” and “are what helps me.” She added, “[I’m] not a model, never will be. I think they’re awesome, mind you, but I’m definitely, definitely not that.” Gomez concluded the video by asking haters to keep the negativity at bay. “And if not, go away, because honestly, I don’t believe in shaming people for body or anything,” she said. Gomez has had Lupus for ten years now.

Most of the time, people say negative things for a reaction, and I can't even bear to give them the satisfaction. So there's something that I gain from feeling like I'm the bigger person, from walking away from a situation.

I think it's healthy to gain a perspective on who you are deep down, question yourself, and challenge yourself; it's important to do that.

I think love is blind. You don't see it; you don't hear what people are saying or what you're saying. You don't see what you're doing. All you see is the person in front of you. That's it.

I don't trust anyone... It's something that I have to live with, and I have to find the balance of who I want in my life and who isn't good for me.

When people ask me if there’s something that I would tell my younger self, I always said, 'Go ahead and do it.'...I want to say it’s okay not to know what you want to do with the rest of your life. It’s a journey to find your direction or your passion so don’t get frustrated by the mistakes and setbacks, as they happen to all of us.

You reflect on the people who used to be in your life, and it's like, 'Wow, I can't believe that person was ever really in my life.' But people are put into your life for seasons, for different reasons, and to teach you lessons.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve learned that I have to open myself up to all opportunities. Maybe I’ll get burned and not meet the right people, but I won’t know until I do it.
