David Letterman was a special guest on The Late Show Monday, November 20th, 2024. He said,"This is the most enthusiastic audience I have been near since the night I announced I was quitting." David Letterman made his first appearance on the Late Show since 2015, but on the opposite side of the desk. Dave was fascinated with the changes in the building and the dressing rooms at a place he called "home" for 20-plus years. It's great to see that Dave is as lively as ever.

Letterman On 'The Late Show'

Letterman was the host for over 20 years.  I felt Stephen Colbert was polite and respectful to just let Dave go.  I can't imagine what it would be like trying to interview someone who has been an interviewer for decades, especially at this level.  In between Late Night and The Late Show, David spent 33 years hosting more than 6,000 episodes.

Here's Dave talking about his favorite musical guests through the years.  He talks about being scared of Tre Cool of Green Day and his love of The National and Foo Fighters. Stephen and Dave also reenacted their selfie from 2014.

"In my day, I never would've let this happen," Letterman said of revisiting the show and set. "We do this because my son doesn't believe I had a show."

It had to be awkward for Colbert...  The guy you replaced comes back and you interview him on television.  I think Colbert hung in there and was incredibly classy.  Colbert gave Dave his seat and a moment before they reenacted their selfie shot from 2014 when it was announced that Stephen would be taking over for Dave.  Here's the 2014 shot:

Dave looks great and has such great energy.  I would love to see him get Sexiest Man Alive. HA! Dave would have a blast with that. I think I need to get a nomination in for him.

The Sexiest Men Alive From The Last 20 Years

Take a stroll through the last 20 years of People's Sexiest Men Alive. This year, the award went to Grey's Anatomy's neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd. The long-awaited title is something we look forward to every year, and this year's choice has been worth the wait. The actor has never been given the title before, and with nearly 20 years of being television eye candy, the actor told the publication when he first heard the news, “I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right?” As for how his kids will respond, the Maine native insists they’re just going to make fun of him.

Humble Beginnings

Growing up in Maine, he recalled always having to be moving, so he took up a lot of sports like baseball, soccer, skiing, cycling." The Ferrari actor had dyslexia, so he didn't love school, and described himself as a "late bloomer." In his youth, Dempsey joined a vaudeville troupe and rode a unicycle while juggling.

Now, the key is maturity and wisdom for the Can't Buy Me Love alum. "You go through cycles of life, so you understand there are going to be high and low moments and what are the most important things. Everything else is a gift.” Despite his heartthrob status over the years, “I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life,” he says of his new title.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and People magazine has their own taste. See the Sexiest Men Alive from the last 20 years below:
