North Carolina City Where You’re Most Likely to Love Your Neighbors

It means a lot to have good neighbors. I’ll never forget that when my power went out, once of my neighbors who happened to have power let me go over there and work on her wi-fi, eat and do other stuff that requires power. So, the moral of the story is that it pays off to have good neighbors. It just gives you that warm-and-fuzzy feeling inside. Now, one North Carolina city has been named one where you’re most likely to love your neighbors.

The new study comes from Neighbor.com. “In these challenging times when Americans report increasing loneliness and division, recognizing America’s ‘Most Neighborly Cities’ is not just a celebratory act, but a call for unity and hope,” Joseph Woodbury, Founder and CEO of Neighbor, said in a press release. “Good neighbors heal our society’s biggest wounds, starting with the smallest friendly gesture. The real magic of community is the ability to uplift and magnify our impact.”

As for methodology, Neighbor identified the 25 “Most Neighborly Cities” by surveying 1,000 Americans, “inquiring about their neighborly habits, their relationships with their neighbors and what they think makes a community most neighborly,” according to the study. If you’re wondering the No. 1 pick, it’s Madison, Wisconsin. As for more friendly cities, No. 2 is Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s followed by No. 3, which is is Colorado Springs, Colorado; No. 4 Sarasota, Florida; and No. 5 Rochester, New York.

So, which city from our state made the cut? Coming in at No. 9 in the whole country is Raleigh, North Carolina. “For the third year in a row, Raleigh is recognized as more than just the ‘City of Oaks,'” the study says. “This neighborly city has a strong economy, abundance of jobs, pleasant climate and small town hospitality.” Also, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is No. 16. Find the full list here.

    I know what you’re thinking. Fall colors in Florida? The Sunshine State isn’t known for their fall colors, but Torreya State Park offers some great, late-season views. The area has quite a few varieties of trees that show their colors in early November. It’s worth the road trip, if you live south of there.

    Waterfalls and fall colors? That sounds great to me. The Tahquamenon Falls State Park has one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. This state park is huge, too, offering 50,000 acres of forest. It’s beautiful in the fall.
