For some reason, Jessica Simpson wants to reboot her music career. In a new cover story with Bustle, Simpson, who just celebrated her 43rd birthday Monday (July 10), tells the publication that she finds something “irresistible” about the music industry. The "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer's debut album, Sweet Kisses, was released in 1999. She released seven studio albums in total, with her last album being over 13 years ago.

Jessica's Music Inspiration

With repeated visits to Nashville, the mother of three told the publication that she was considering a permanent move to Music City, where she hopes to make music again. Nashville houses legendary country music venues the Grand Ole Opry House, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the historic Ryman Auditorium. This time around, Simpson is a mother in a different marriage. Sharing her excitement about wanting to perform in front of her children, she recalls, "I have my daughter taking a private plane with North West to go see Katy Perry in Vegas. And inside, I’m like, ‘She was supposed to see me first.’ Then I’m like, ‘This is not competitive, Jessica. Let your daughter enjoy Katy Perry.’ But there’s moments that make me want to do it — for them to see that color of me."

As for what new music from Simpson could sound like, she now considers herself "genre-less." She had a country album with 2008's Do You Know, but her record label decided to drop her for swaying from pop music. "You’ll never recoup the amount of money we’ve put into you," she remembers being told. "It wasn’t my choice to have Scott Storch or all these producers that [cost] a million dollars a track. I didn’t control those budgets. We were just yes-people. And in saying yes to everything, I lost it all."

Her last album was 2010's Happy Christmas, her second holiday album. Around the same time, Simpson met former NFL player Eric Johnson, and the two have been together ever since. The couple shares children Maxwell Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and Birdie Mae, 4.

Not only is Jessica Simpson an incredible singer, actress, and business mogul, but she is also hilarious. Here are ten of her most iconic quotes.
