The stage was lit red Sunday night with the addition of metal cages and dancers circling around Smith. Smith, of course, sported a red horned hat and a cheeky red leather ensemble while singing about "doing something unholy."
As it turns out, the elaborate performance caused quite the stir as Piers Morgan described Smith as "Satan" in his "uncensored" New York Post column. Even Twitter CEO Elon Musk even had something to say about the performance. He described it as "End of days vibes." He added: "If that’s Satan, we have nothing to worry about."
Meanwhile, conservatives were having a meltdown as U.S. Senator Ted Cruz tweeted: "This…is…evil." Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene described the performance as "demonic" and called on American Christians "to get to work." Megyn Kelly also slammed the musicians for "celebrating Satan."
When asked about his thoughts on the performance, David Harris, magister for the Church of Satan, told gossip website TMZ that it was "alright" and "nothing particularly special." Harris even says the imagery evoked in their Grammys set is similar to what we've already seen from other artists: red clothing, fire and devil horns, and it's "all kind of passé now."
Harris addressed the anger from politicians. "It's sad when politicians on a national stage use someone's religion as a punchline," and also described them as "delicate snowflakes."
The Church of Satan says Lil Nas X's music video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" was actually much more proactive than anything Sam and Kim did, in a satanic sense. As for "Unholy," the Church of Satan says it's really just a lot of attractive people prancing around in nice outfits, singing lyrics more about infidelity than Satanism.
2023 Grammy Red Carpet Train Wrecks and Best Looks Ranked
The 2023 Grammy Awards is always a night of excitement - both musical and fashion-wise. Before our favorite musical artists are bestowed their trophies, they took the red carpet by storm. Some were hurricanes -- or train wrecks -- while others struck lightning with their electrifying outfits.
Take a look below at the worst and best looks of the night:
Worst: Harry Styles

Harry Styles flaunted his flamboyant style once again, this time with a bare chest and a clown-like glittery jumpsuit.
Worst: Ray Angry

The Roots musician wore a shiny iridescent suit topped with a huge hat and comical accessories.
Worst: DOMi and JD Beck

The jazz duo looked like they were high on psychadelics in these childish matching trippy outfits.
Worst: Nancy Wilson

The Heart vocalist wore this bright outfit with colors that don't go together at all.
Worst: Shania Twain

We are loving Shania's confidence on her latest red carpet appearances, but this comically large cow hat is NOT it.
Worst: Blac Chyna

Blac Chyna evoked her inner Black Swan tonight at the Grammys complete with a very smudged smoky eye.
Worst: Fat Joe

Fat Joe showed up as a human salmon with this all-pink look. Those Pepto Bismol shoes were a mistake.
Worst: Amber Rose

Amber Rose's look is pretty predictable and lackluster at this point, with the fingerless leather gloves.
Worst: Jack Harlow

For some reason, Jack Harlow wore these black leather gloves which just make him look creepy.
Worst: Mary J. Blige

We love Mary, but this look is just a hot mess. Her hair is unkept and this metallic cutout dress does nothing for her other than prove she can wear trendy pieces -- it doesn't bring out her beauty.
Best: Taylor Swift

Swift's navy look was pretty, though kind of boring.
Best: Kacey Musgraves

The feather cape saves this baby pink catsuit look that otherwise would have been horrid.
Best: Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian

We love that the couple wore a matching metals outfit! Dwayne in gold and his wife Lauren in silver.
Best: Fran Drescher

It's been a long time since we've seen Fran Drescher, but her return to the red carpet is astounding in this bronze jumpsuit!
Best: Smokey Robinson and Frances Glandney

Smokey Robinson and his wife were the cutest couple on the red carpet with these pastel colored suits.
Best: Lil Uzi Vert

Lil Uzi just wants to rock and his spiky hair shows that!
Best: Diplo

Diplo always shows up so sleek at red carpet events and though his outfit isn't colorful, he let's his style take the lead.
Best: Erick The Architect

The rapper/producer looked really good in this soft pink suit with a matching fuzzy bucket hat and metallic accessories.
Best: Heidi Klum

Heidi came to show off her sexiness at the red carpet in this plunging snake-patterned fringe gown!
Best: Pharrell Williams

Pharrell can do no wrongs in his fashion choices. His recurring shades always make his outfits look so cool and tonight is no exception with this leather and fur look.
Best: Camila Cabello

This is the hottest we've seen the singer look on any red carpet event!
Best: Lourdes Leon

Madonna's daughter is giving her mother a run for her money with this classic yet sexy style.
Best: Kelsea Ballerini

We're not a fan of such bright colors and it's definitely not in season, but Kelsea's dress is so ravishing, we can't ignore how beautiful it is.
Best: Maren Morris

Maren's shimmering grey plunging mesh gown accentuates her body just right, and her sleek hair 'do brings out her beauty.
Best: Steve Lacy

Steve Lacy dresses so fashion forward and we love how his sunglasses and pointed white shoes elevate his look.
Best: Questlove

Our favorite Croc-wearer showed up in this really cool striped coat that remind us of a newspaper -- but in a cool way.
Best: Bebe Rexha

Bebe is giving major Princess Peach/Barbie vibes in this glamorous baby pink satin look and big curls.
Best: Miguel

Miguel's mashup of Dune meets Canadian tuxedo resulted in this surprisingly fashionable look!
Best: Kim Petras, Sam Smith, Violet Chachki and Gottmik

We love a coordinated group outfit and every person's look is absolutely electric and unique.
Best: Doja Cat

Doja rocked the red carpet in this patent leather gown, keeping things smoky with her eye makeup and dark mulet.
Best: Lizzo

Lizzo slayed in this refreshing "spring awakening." The musician's look was a transforming one, with her floral cape doubling as a hood.
Best: Cardi B

Cardi's style has elevated over the years and this royal blue work of art was no exception. 10/10, no notes.
