Viola Davis Could Be The Next EGOT Thanks To 2023 Grammy Nod
Viola Davis might be the next EGOT. And EGOT, of course, is someone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. It’ll happen if she wins a Grammy for narrating her memoir Finding Me. Davis was nominated for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording alongside Mel Brooks’ All About Me!: My Remarkable Life In Show Business (Brooks is also an EGOT), Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Aristotle And Dante Dive Into The Waters Of The World (who already has an Emmy and is just an Oscar short of an EGOT), Jamie Foxx’s Act Like You Got Some Sense (needs a a Tony and an Emmy for EGOT status), and Questlove’s Music Is History (needs an Emmy and a Tony to be an EGOT).
Davis won her first Tony Award in 2001 for her role in King Hedley II and her second for the Fences in 2010. She later would receive her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the latter when it was adapted for film. In 2015, Davis won her Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy for her starring role as Annalise Keating in How To Get Away With Murder. She is the first black actor to win the Triple Crown of Acting (actors who have won a competitive Academy Award, Emmy Award, and Tony Award in the acting categories.)
The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, and will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT.
