Machine Gun Kelly Says Megan Fox’s Engagement Ring Hurts To Take Off
Machine Gun Kelly’s engagement ring to Megan Fox was custom-made, and he designed it with Stephen Webster to be two rings in one.
On Instagram, he described the nontraditional ring as “two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”
In a recent joint interview with Vogue, MGK described the ring in further detail saying, “It’s a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment. It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine… The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart.”
However, the ring MGK gave Fox inflicts pain on her if she takes it off. “And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts.” That’s one way to make sure his lady keeps her ring on.
Addressing the criticism from their various-angled engagement video (which was shared to Megan’s Instagram), folks thought the pair hired professional videographers who were staking out all over the place. However, he said that he filmed it all himself on his cellphone.
“We released it to control the narrative. As opposed to someone just catching a weird cell phone picture of a ring on our hand and being like, whoa!” he told Vogue. “But yeah, I didn’t expect it. I just recorded it on my cell phone. And it wasn’t like we had photographers or anything. It was just like me setting my phone against a cup.” Though MGK propped his phone up to record the special moment, he must have moved it several times to get the result, which you can see below.
