Selena Gomez Addresses ‘The Good Fight’ Kidney Transplant Reference
After her fans defended her on social media yesterday (August 3), Selena Gomez took to Twitter to bash The Good Fight‘s episode that referenced her kidney transplant.
The scene in question featured three of the characters debating about what they could and could not joke about — with Gomez's 2017 transplant brought up as an example. Gomez’s fans then had “Respect Selena Gomez” trending on Twitter as a result of firing back on the show.
The actress and singer responded later that night writing, “I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing but sadly it has apparently. I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air.”

She followed that up with thanking her fans and bringing awareness to organ donations writing, “My fans always have my back. LOVE YOU. If you are able to please sign up to be an organ donor.”

An organ transplant patient commented on Gomez’s tweet writing, “I can say it is no laughing matter. It is a long stressful experience that leaves both the transplanted and their family with tremendous stress.”
