Vanessa Bryant Stands Up To Meek Mill Over Lyrics About Kobe
Vanessa Bryant is very upset with Meek Mill over a distasteful lyric referencing Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash, calling it straight-up “disrespectful.” It comes one month after Vanessa marked the first anniversary of Kobe and their daughter Gianna tragic death when their helicopter crashed.
Meek Mill has been under scrutiny over the past week for one particular lyric in his new collab with Lil Baby allegedly titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)” which says:
“This b—- I’m f—–‘ always tell me that she love me, but she ain’t ever showed me. Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”
Vanessa posted on her Instagram story last night over Meek Mill’s lyrics, “Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
Shortly after being tagged in the statement, Meek wrote on Twitter: “I’m going back savage in this s— … f— ya feelings!” It is unclear if this had anything to do with a response to Vanessa, but the tweet has since been deleted.
Vanessa lost her husband, 41, and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, in the Jan. 26, 2020 helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. They were traveling to a youth basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks. Seven other people also perished in the crash.
Vanessa mournfully observed the first anniversary of Kobe and Gianna’s death last month, writing on an Instagram post: ” I miss my baby girl and Kob-Kob so much, too. ♥️I will never understand why/how this tragedy could’ve happened to such beautiful, kind and amazing human beings. It still doesn’t seem real. Kob, we did it right. Gigi, you still make mommy proud. I love you!”

Mill later tweeted, “I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public…Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”
