David Schwimmer Settles The ‘We Were On A Break’ Debate
David Schwimmer is putting a great debate to rest. The actor is finally confirming or denying if whether his Friends character Ross and girlfriend Rachel were, in fact, “on a break.”
Per Fandom, to recap, in the 1997 episode, Ross and Rachel argue about whether his one-night-stand with Chloe was an act of cheating. “Ross maintains that since they had broken up, no cheating had occurred. Rachel briefly attempts to contradict the ‘breakup’ interpretation of their previous fateful dialog by turning it into ‘we were on a break!’ This unsuccessful attempt, which is never repeated, coins the phrase.”

David Schwimmer settles the debate on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy brings up the episode, and David talked about the people who constantly shout at him in the street. “People are so passionately divided about whether or not they were on a break.” He also adds: “Yeah, it’s not even a question, they were on a break.”
David also talked briefly about the upcoming reunion, which was halted due to the coronavirus. Watch the video below.
