Nicki Minaj Honors Juice Wrld While Accepting Billboard Award
Nicki Minaj was honored by Billboard at the publication’s “Women In Music” event that was held on Thursday (Dec. 12) with their “Game-Changer” award.
During her acceptance speech, Minaj spoke about the late rapper Juice Wrld who recently died after taking several Percocet pills while aboard a private plane, after learning that the federal agents would be searching the aircraft.
“Thank you to Billboard for doing this. It is the only thing that got me dressed in the last month, so. I don’t know maybe, that’s a good thing,” Minaj said at the beginning of her speech.
“I recently had the pleasure of working with and touring with Juice Wrld. I had a great conversation with him one day and while we walked to the stage he held my hand told me to stay calm and to pray,” Minaj continued.
“He said he had been trying to do just that. I was so shocked to hear him of all people tell me that but right there at that moment I actually did feel calm. I thought what am I actually worried about. I felt like he was a kindred spirit and looking back now I wish I did something or said something to help.”
Minaj said that Juice Wrld also talked to her “in detail” about how much he loved his girlfriend and music. Minaj also spoke about how she and Juice Wrld had recorded music together and he would record several songs very swiftly. Check out Minaj’s speech below.
