Kandi Burruss Shares Surrogate Carried Twins But One Passed
Singer-songwriter and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker are currently preparing to welcome their daughter via surrogate. However, the welcoming of their daughter will be bittersweet.
During the season 12 premiere of RHOA, Burruss and Tucker shared that their surrogate was originally carrying twin girls.
“We actually was supposed to be having twins, and then one of them didn’t continue,” Burruss explained on RHOA. “I was sad at first, but then I just had to be grateful that the one made it.”
During season 11 of RHOA, Burruss and Tucker documented their surrogacy journey. Married to Medicine star and OBGYN Dr. Jackie Walters introduced them to a surrogacy candidate named Shadina.
Burruss and Tucker were initially apprehensive. However, they decided to move forward with the process. “To allow somebody to carry my child inside of them? It was a tough decision to make,” Burruss said on the first episode of RHOA.
“For me, it was like, clearly I have not been getting pregnant… it’s just not happening,” Burruss told The Daily Dish.
“I just feel like this whole situation is strange,” Burruss shares during the premiere. “I don’t get to be excited about the first kick. I don’t get to be excited about, ‘Oh now my baby bump is showing.’ I don’t get to be excited even about my boobs filling up with milk.”
“You have this guilt [and] sadness. So it’s a joyous, yet interesting experience,” Burruss continues.
Burruss has a 17-year-old daughter named Riley and Tucker has a 23-year-old daughter named Kaela, in addition to their son Ace. Both of their daughters are from previous relationships.
