Watch Kelly Clarkson Cover Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy’ In This Epic Beat Battle
Just give Kelly Clarkson a beat and she’ll take it from there. On a new episode of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon and Clarkson competed in a beat battle. But, let’s be honest, the real winner was Clarkson’s cover of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” which will make you wish those two would collaborate.
The rules of the Beat Battle are The Roots give a beat and then Fallon and Clarkson have to come up with a song to sing over it. They have to do this with no hesitation, which isn’t easy, but both were game. In their over four-minute battle, Fallon sang a little Billy Joel, “I’m So Sexy,” and “Cotton Eye Joe.” While Clarkson sang a little bit of Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ “Señorita,” Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry,” and “Shut Up and Dance.”
Fallon throwing in a duet of Clarkson’s first single “A Moment Like This” was a nice final touch. But it was Clarkson’s soulful take on Eilish’s latest single that really showed her range. And since she only sang a few seconds of the song, it left us wanting much more. Let’s hope Clarkson will book Eilish for her new daytime talk show and we’ll get a “Bad Guy” duet.–
The Kelly Clarkson Show premieres Monday, Sept. 9.
