‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Announced Starring Hilary Duff
Lizzie McGuire, the Disney Channel series that launched Hilary Duff‘s career, will be rebooted as part of the new streaming service Disney+.
The announcement was made at the D23 Expo convention where Duff was present to discuss details of the reboot, which will feature a 30-year-old Lizzie living her best life in New York City.
“The good news is, just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and has grown up with her, Lizzie’s also grown up,” said Duff in the clip below. “She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now. She’s working as an apprentice to a fancy New York City decorator. She has her dream guy, who owns a cool SoHo restaurant. She has her dream apartment in Brooklyn. And she’s getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday.”
Per Entertainment Weekly, also returning to the series is Lizzie’s animated counterpart/inner monologue, except she hasn’t grown up and is still the intense 13-year-old fans have loved for years.
A release date for the rebooted Lizzie McGuire was not announced at the D23 Expo.
