‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ Takes Home MTV Movie & TV Award And ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast Members Are Pissed
On Monday, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta took home the “Reality Royalty” award at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards beating out Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, The Bachelor, The Challenge, and Vanderpump Rules, and some cast members of Jersey Shore are pissed.
LHHA cast members, Karlie Redd, Spice, Scrappy, and Bambi took to the stage to accept their award, after noticeably looking shocked.
“Thank you, MTV! None of us. We thought we wasn’t gone win,” Redd said while at the podium.
“I was just telling them back over there. I said, ‘Look I think we too ratchet to win an award,'” Scrappy said.
Following the awards, some cast members of Jersey Shore expressed their frustration due to not winning on social media. Deena Nicole Cortese tweeted, “No shame. Not anything against Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, but we the same cast has been here for 10 years, and show our entire lives good and bad. We were very shocked esp being our family network,” Cortese tweeted in response to someone else who tweeted, “#MTVMovieAwards dying at the fact that @JerseyShore didn’t conceal their feelings about not winning AT ALL.”
A fan tweeted Cortese, “Keep your chin up sis, we all know who the real reality royals are! Y’all don’t need an award to justify that the Jersey Shore has been around 10 years for a reason,” and the Jersey Shore cast member replied with six red hearts.
Jersey Shore cast member Angelina Pivarnick followed suit and took to social media to share her anger behind losing as well, but via her Instagram story.
“My reaction says it all. What a joke. The fans def voted for us,” Pivarnick wrote. “No matter what we will always be the top show ever!! We don’t need an award to know that. Thank u to all the supporters and fans of jersey shore. We feel the love.”
Mona Scott-Young, the creator of the Love and Hip Hop franchise apparently, caught wind of the Jersey Shore cast’s frustrations because, on Tuesday, she took to Instagram to share a meme as a response.
“They SHORE is salty” *eats popcorn from our #MTV award,” she wrote as her caption, along with the woman shoulder shrug, trophy, and popcorn emojis and hashtags that read “#LHHATLWon #Periodt #pettyposttuesday.”
Spice also responded on Instagram by posting a photo of herself laughing. “Slide to see why I’m laughing. The Shore got washed and Angelina hunny you should frame that ring now cause remember you were a little bounce about or “TRESH” or what ever they all it in America. So go sit your a** down some where and no bada try mi bloodclaat todey. Cau if mi pull u file you might get kicked the third time from the show #RememberYouJustCameBack,” Spice wrote as her caption.

Scrappy wasn’t shy about speaking his mind regarding the backlash either. “Man it was a lot of people looking big mad that these Atlanta ratchets came in they lil pordy and got the W, they was saying sh*t out they mouth some wasn’t clapping but hey when you pull up the numbers we at the top when it comes to reality TV jack,” Scrappy wrote as a caption on Instagram for a photo of himself holding his award.
“Shout out to the whole cast and producers and crew of #LHHATL for the W and hard work putting our dirty laundry and family on front street.”
Scrappy’s wife, Bambi chimed in on Instagram as well. “The cast and everyone who is a part of Love & Hip Hop gets so much hate, but you guys have pushed through for many years. Congratulations to all of you! Thanks to #MTVmovieandTVawards2019 for adding a reality category. S/O to all the nominees… even tho y’all was salty asf,” Bambi wrote as a caption for a photo of her holding her award.
