Darren McCollester/Getty Images for iHeartMediaMAX recently sat down with Billboard to talk about his hit song, "Lights Down Low".
The song appears on his third album, Hell's Kitchen Angel, and was written while MAX was on tour with Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa.
He had just started dating his girlfriend (now wife), and part of the song reflects on their short visits together: “Can I stop the flow of time?/ Can I swim in your divine?”
He explained, “I didn’t want her to leave ever. I just wanted it to be that moment, us together, and not anything else in the world.”
MAX also shared that he used the song to propose to his wife by having a harp player and singing the song to her.
